Tips on how to care for your Whippet

Whippet is the ideal dog breed for people who are looking for dogs that are playful and docile at the same time. These sweet natured dogs love to play games that involve running. They are very active and require exercise every day. A fun fact about this breed is that the Whippet is the fastest dog of his weight. These dogs get along fairly well with everyone and that includes other dogs; however beware as Whippets have the tendency to chase everything that runs.

Some helpful tips that will prove to be useful while you care for your Whippet are:

Grooming:
Grooming a Whippet involves the same things as every other dog breed:
·         Toenails should be trimmed every week.
·         Get it vaccinated
·         It is important to get your Whippet dewormed
·         Treat your whippet for fleas
·         Clean on a regular basis

Daily Physical Activity:
It is important for Whippets to get their dose of daily exercise as it stimulates their brain and that in turn maintains their good health. It prevents Whippets from getting bored which is very important because a bored Whippet can be very difficult to handle. You should make sure that you play your part in entertaining your whippet as a good game of catch and throw can prove to be a good way to exercise for you and your dog both. All Whippet activities are dependent on their age and level of health.

Whippet House breaking:
Whippets are mostly comfortable in environments that are quite and noise free. It is important that your whippet should have a dog bed as his own coat is not thick enough to cushion him. Alternatively you can also make a bed out of a wooden box and place a clean sheet, pillow, comforter or a blanket inside to make sure that your Whippet is comfortable. It is also important to clean the sheets regularly. Your Whippet will be spending a lot of time outdoors so it is always a good idea to make sure that he has access to plenty of cool water especially during the summers.

Whippet licensing:
Whippets have the habit of chasing anything that runs away from the, be it a car or another animal. It is always a good idea to make sure that your Whippet has a license collar. This collar will have an identification tag so that your Whippet can be returned to your safely in case it ever goes missing.

A great way to keep a memoir of your beloved pet is to get a statue made. By providing a picture of your Whippet to Arty Lobster, we can make a wonderful 3D sculpture of your Whippet. This sculpture will be about 8cm tall and will be completed within 3-4 weeks. After providing a picture of your whippet, Arty Lobster will make a full computer model of your dog that will also be coloured. We will also show you a preview of the 3D sculpture for free so that you are 100% satisfied. At Arty Lobster we make sure that your Whippet sculpture is an exact copy of your Whippet.  Our highly trained sculptor will try his best to capture the individual essence of your dog and tried to incorporate it into the statue.
